What’s the ideal TV position?
With the UK watching a staggering average of 220 minutes of TV per day, getting the ideal TV position is vital. There are many factors to consider when deciding where it is best to place your TV for the best viewing experience. These include the size and sharpness of your TV and the distance between your Sofa, Chair etc. and your TV itself.
How high should I mount my TV?
There is one golden rule to follow and that is that the center of the TV screen should be eye level with the person viewing. This can vary depending on different things, the height of your seat for example, how tall you sit in it and obviously the size of your TV. You can also tilt your screen downward if it is higher up on the wall so it offers a better viewing angle if you are sitting lower down on the sofa. To get the best vertical position for your TV you will need to take some measurements and calculate this based on your particular setup, or speak to us and we’ll be happy to advise.
How far should you sit from the TV?
The old general rule for the best viewing distance from the Television is 2.5 times the diagonal length of your screen. So for a 42 inch TV the optimum viewing distance would be 42 x 2.5 = 105 inches. However a lot has changed since this popular opinion, with new technologies and high definition screens there is now a recommendation of 1.5 times the diagonal length of your screen.
